This 1/4” Stud Solderless Ring Terminal is made to attach the end of an 8 gauge electrical wire and allow it to be easily connected to a 1/4” stud or screw terminal. Without insulation it’s easy to make that bare metal to metal connection, see if you have made a solid crimp, and allows for the terminal to withstand much higher temperatures than insulated terminals.
